WAVES eventually aims at facilitating a Danish production of consumer electronics based on DSP implementations (or similar technology) of wavelet algorithms.

There still remains some gaps to be filled, before this can be achieved. However, the expertise required currently exists in the Danish research environments. WAVES aims at exploiting this potential.

With a focused effort, targeted specifically at audio/visual consumer electronics, it seems possible within a five year period to reach a precommercial level. The wide consortium of WAVES has been composed to cover every aspect in order to reach this level.
